The Ranch Film Studios

Jason Waggenspack

Head of Possibilities

The line from the movie in Dead Poet’s Society, “Oh Captain, My Captain,” aptly fits this leader of THE RANCH Film Studios. Jason’s unique vision holds that there are unlimited possibilities if one has a plan and works hard. He is a natural leader who has acquired much wisdom from helming the storms of many blockbuster films and is living his dream in building THE RANCH.

Professionally he has worked his way up from the bottom prior to helming THE RANCH. He has played an integral part of some of the biggest films to hit Louisiana. The list includes TERMINATOR: GENESIS, FOCUS, DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, DEVIL’S DUE, ENDERS GAME, PERCY JACKSON: SEA OF MONSTERS, THE HOST, TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN, THE PAPERBOY, MEDALLION, RED, THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON and many others.

When this Baton Rouge native is not at work at THE RANCH, he is at home with his three favorite girls, Sarah, his lovely wife of 8 years and his 3 year old daughter, Sloane and new-born Sadie. Jason loves to BBQ with family and friends and is an avid basketball player. Playing basketball is how he actually relieves stress. If he wasn’t in the movie business he would have become an architect ...but his love for film and filmmakers threw a wrench into that.

Jason’s favorite New Orleans food is Seafood Gumbo with clump of potato salad or deviled egg dropped in it. A true New Orleans favorite! His favorite New Orleans restaurant is PECHE and you can find him always enjoying a delicious local meal at MeMe’s right down the block from THE RANCH in St. Bernard Parish.

Jimmy HornBeak, Director of Amazement for The Ranch Film Studios in Chalmette Louisiana

Jimmy Hornbeak

Director of Amazement

Jimmy’s title reflects a piece of his heart. He is always searching for the amazing and attempting to help others be amazing. He still marvels at the absolute wonder and amazement of a great story. Jimmy has longed held the belief that stories can change people’s lives.

Jimmy worked for Levi Strauss and Company for many years. In his last position, he served as Creative Director/Curator and led the brand in building it’s first ever flagship store on San Francisco’s Union Square. He also served as Levi’s Marketing and Brand manager for 5 years. He believes that great brands are built through strong narrative. Jimmy, at his core is a storyteller and ...a brand guy.

Several years ago Jimmy stepped off the corporate ship to embark on a calling to be a real storyteller. His search for amazing stories had him complete a directors program at NYU and formed a story incubator/production company called, IAM/theclay. Through this production company he worked to package and market multiple reality TV series, TV movies and independent films. He met Jason from THE RANCH team on the film, FOCUS. It was then that his story and Jason’s story would be set in motion.

Being invited to help architect THE RANCH brand has been one of the truly amazing gifts of his life. His love of marketing/branding, building meaningful spaces and story...all packed into one dream job. Amazing.

When Jimmy is not working you can find him screenwriting. He also a true NOLA foodie and loves a good sloppy roast beef po-boy, especially those from Sammy’s Po Boys. To relax, he reads, loves to ride his bike and binge watch,THE VOICE. If you find him in St. Bernard...aka “da Parish”, you may find him having a delicious Roast Beef Po Boy at Jeanfreau and that... is really amazing!

Maria Hinds, We are the Ranch, Director of Visual Beauty, New Orleans Soundstage and Film Studio

Maria Hinds

Director of Visual Beauty

Maria is our Director of Visual Beauty. She sees what others do not.

A true visual artist who also loves to draw and paint. Her artwork has been exhibited in both Ireland and the USA.

She graduated from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, Ireland in 2000. After sharpening her skills at Dublin's leading design studios she set up her own design practice. Maria built a strong client base bringing visual distinction to international clients in diverse sectors from non-profits to corporations.

As our luck would have it (or perhaps the luck of the Irish) Maria moved to New Orleans and became a great asset to THE RANCH.

Maria's work is influenced by a minimal swiss style design aesthetic which provides visual respite in a world bombarded by messaging. Her skill set encompasses graphic design, illustration, branding, and strategic design thinking.

When she is not watching movies, listening to New Orleans music or eating great gumbo at Dooky Chase...you will find her traveling the world and taking in other cultures.
